Social Justice opportunities for families

Donate school supplies for Rowena Chess Elementary School throughout the year. There is a collection box in the back of the sanctuary. The most-needed supplies are:

  • paper (lined 8-1/2" x 11" paper, 3 hole punched)

  • pencils (#2 with eraser)

  • tissues (Kleenex or other brands)

  • books (children's books, new or used in good condition)

Participate in fundraisers organized by the Interfaith Youth Group. They are working toward international social justice through a series of fundraising projects. Look for announcements, flyers and newsletter articles with details.

Join the church e-mail listserve to find out about public rallies and other opportunities to work toward social justice. You can also check Facebook or "Current Events" on the church web page.

The Alternative Gift Fair (https://sites.google.com/site/cuucalternativegiftfair/ ) on the first Saturday in December is the church's main fundraiser for local, national and international charities.

The "Guest At Your Table" program (http://www.uusc.org/guest ) from November to January gives children and youth a chance to support grassroots social justice organization around the world.

If you have ideas for possible family social justice activities, contact the Social Justice Committee or the Religious Education Committee.
